Father Bruce A. Peterson

Father Bruce A. Peterson, age 86, of Goodhue, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 at his home in Goodhue, Minnesota.

Parish prayers will be at 3:30 with visitation following from 4-7 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goodhue on Thursday, Dec. 22. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Friday, Dec. 23 at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek with Rev. Randal Kasel officiating. There will also be visitation one hour before Mass on Friday, morning at St. Columbkill Catholic Church. 

Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Bruce A. Peterson was born on Nov. 2, 1930 in Minneapolis.  He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Southwest High School in 1948. Bruce attended Nazareth Hall Preparatory Seminary in Roseville and then St. Paul Seminary.  He was ordained on Feb. 17, 1957.  He served at St. Charles Boromeo in St. Anthony:  Christ the King and Ascension in Minneapolis and St. Joseph in Circle Pines before becoming Pastor of St. Columbkill, Belle Creek and Holy Trinity, Goodhue in 1970 with St. Mary, Bellechester being added in 2002. Bruce retired on July 1, 2013. 

Fr. Bruce loved to serve others, both in his parish and the community where he served for many years on a variety of boards.  He loved sports, was an avid Vikings fans, and could be found at many school activities.  He loved to play golf and enjoyed boating in his free time.  He will be dearly missed. 

Survivors include his sister Dolores (Ray) Beach of Elk River and many nieces and nephews.  Fr. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Marie Peterson and brother, Ronald Peterson.

Serving as casket bearers will be his nephews; David Beach, John Beach, John Mueller, Kevin Knoblach, Andrew Mueller and Collin Mueller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Fr. Peterson Graduating Senior Scholarship or Goodhue Athletic Department.
